Campaign Planning

Most organizations understand the need for capital campaigns.  More money, more mission - always a great thing!

But, what isn't always clear is how to begin to plan.  Who is involved, what are you raising money for (the case for support), who leads this effort, and why is now the best time to undertake one of the most important projects your organization will ever consider?

These questions and a LOT of other factors must be addressed thoughtfully before an organization embarks into a capital campaign.

Dreaming, Planning, and Reality

I work with clients on the front end of the capital campaign process.  This portion can be the "heavy lift" but also the fun part where the organization envisions how philanthropy can energize the mission creating impact for those you serve.

After bringing your organization through a process of dreaming, prioritizing and analyzing, I conduct a series of confidential interviews with key stakeholders.  These interviews along with internal analysis of operational realities (donor base capacity, staffing bandwidth, board engagement, and campaign volunteer leadership availability just to name a few) paint a picture of what is possible.  But most importantly, what is recommended for your campaign to be successful.

Capital Campaign Management

You've done the planning campaign.  Now what?

Structure and organization will serve you well during your capital campaign.  Here are a few areas to consider as you plan your successful campaign.

  • Campaign Donor Recognition Plan

  • Campaign Volunteer Structure

  • Campaign Policies/Procedures (Gift Acceptance)

  • Campaign Timetable/Schedule

  • Campaign Budget

  • Comprehensive Communications Plan

  • Prospect Strategy for Quiet, Lead, Major and Public Phases

  • More (of course) but that's where a seasoned professional becomes part of your team. With my experience and the organization's passion and realistic planning, we will cross the campaign finish line!

Board and Volunteer Training

Your organization will need a volunteer army for your campaign.

But don't panic!

Your troops are relative to many variables - the size of your fundraising goals, the number of lead prospects who will require personalized invitations to invest and the strategies you envision.

Even a small group of committed individuals can create amazing results.

It often comes down to training and empowering your volunteers to understanding this simple fact.  Their love of your organization is greater than their fear of asking for a gift. Training and coaching creates the critical advantage for your campaign.

Let's work together to craft the perfect training program for your board, staff and key campaign volunteers.
